Prototype Log 1
We build the first prototype of our game. It is in an early stage. We have a lot of questions we need to answer.
IS OUR MECHANIC FUN?
We are afraid that it won’t be fun for the mouse: We are thinking to add some kind of coin system where the mouse would be in the advantage. Further testing will have to decide on this.
DOES OUR POINT OF VIEW WORK?
The chosen viewpoint is sometimes giving us overlapping issues: the bird is overlapping with the mouse. This makes it extra hard for the mouse to play.
This viewpoint also makes it hard for the Hawk to see where he is aiming. We are thinking of solving this with some kind of aim system.
THE ANSWERS YOU ALREADY FOUND BY MAKNG THE PROTOTYPE?
The prototype mostly surfaced more questions rather than answers .
-How do we aim the dash of the hawk?
-Is it fun for the mouse? Do we implement scoring system?
-Does the hawk lose stamina while moving?
-Do we change the pipe into a molehill? It is easier to visualize.
- Change camera angle - Keep lowering it untill we find a balance between what it is now and a sidescroller type camera? - Split screen? - Add beam to the ground / target where the dash will go - Maybe only show target when holding a certain button, and max a couple seconds at a time with cooldown in between.
- Maybe the lack of reference(geometry wise) makes it hard to see where the hawk is flying (can't know until further in development) - Have a dash lock on system with the target if you keep on target for x seconds at a time?
WHAT PROBLEMS DID YOU RUN INTO?
The main attack of the hawk is a dash down but it is near impossible, it has an unknown glitch...
The movement of the hawk is hard because it's physics based. We are taking a look into changing the feeling of how the hawk moves.
WHAT WORKED WELL?
The interaction between the players and items between the mouse and hawk work well. WHAT DO YOU HAVE PLANNED?
Finish up the prototype: Replace placholders with proper meshes, add some basic colors,... fixing current problems that make the game unplayable.
